It's been a funny few weeks with our horses and events; two week ago we had a full two-days of gymkhana activity. The week after there was supposed to be a barrel race at Chase, but it was cancelled due to heavy rain. Then this week we were back into barrel racing, with Lily running both Rookie and Cora, who's come on tremendously over the last month.
Gymkhana Club Camp out, June 28-30
This year's Git 'er Done Gymkhana Club camp-out at Pritchard Rodeo Grounds proved successful in many ways. The turnout was good; the company was awesome, and the horseman ship was great!
Rookie was his usual, solid self at the barrels, but shaky on the poles, giving Lily a first place position in 2D at the end of the weekend.
And Cora, with her new tie-down in place, did amazing, giving Rookie a run for his money!
And Amanda put Stella, her horse-in-training, though successful barrel and pole patterns too.
There was also a barrel clinic on Friday and Saturday evenings as well as the events, and these were fun and gave the participants some much needed information.
Pritchard Barrel Race, July 9
We had an evening of CBR barrel racing down at Ridge View Stables in Pritchard on Tuesday night. The event was well attended with over 40 riders taking part. Lily, again riding Rookie and Cora, put forward some good times on both horses, netting her first place in 3d in the junior category.
We have more CBR barrel racing next week. We at Chase Rodeo Grounds on Thursday July 18th, and back to Kamloops Race Central on Saturday 20th for a doubleheader. We're looking forward to both of them to see how Rookie and Coraget on. More Gleneden Ridge Farm barrel racing coming soon!
